Hans-Jörg Rebholz releases his Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs five years after the respective vintage, which serves to explain the pale brick red hue of the Sonnenschein. In keeping with the conditions of a lighter vintage, the 2010 does not seek its salvation in power or opulence, but shows great elegance of expression. Cherries and soft red berries still manage a delightfully juicy quality, which is expertly partnered by a subtle oaky contribution of dusty chocolate. Fine tannins and animating acidity are the final pieces in a puzzle that teases with complexity
