(By Request) 2011 Siegrist Leinsweiler Sonnenberg Spatburgunder Grosses Gewachs Pfalz JR17
The last time I tasted this was in 2013 and as an infant the Sonnenberg did suffer a little from its oaky cradle. The wood has calmed down a bit, letting cherries in brandy supply a powerful demonstration of fruit. A smoky notion adds further interest. The long finish confirms that we have the substance and extract of a high-calibre Pinot Noir, which falls into the category of big is beautiful.
