Fairly deep garnet colour with pink rim. Almost farmyardy on its first contact with the nose, the fragrance soon takes on more attractive notes of plum, dusty minerality and subtle spices. The palate reveals plenty of substance, cool minerality and fruit entering into a not-yet-totally harmonious partnership, but once sound acidity, solid structure and firm body have assimilated, the 2014 Höllenberg may well exceed my cautious drinking window.
