Medium depth colour of loganberry red, pale ruby rim. The Herrenberg is Stodden’s real home turf, where he may not know every blade of grass in the rows between the vines, but just the delightful fragrance of red and black berries with its delicate dash of fine spice makes you realise that he is on personal terms with the vines themselves. Although still firm on the palate with a solid backbone of tannins, there is plenty of room for the juicy expression of fruit. As the flavour lingers you can feel the gravelly conversion of the greywacke expanding to add terroir to fruit and oak.
