A little more oak spice on the nose than on the Alte Reben Reserve blend, an attractive limestone dustiness as a counterpoint to the fruit. Deep, full and rich in the mouth. Amazing concentration from such young vines. This is an enigma: it is fruit concentration that marks it out but it has so much texture and savour that the fruit is held in check. Deep, full and mouth-watering.
Bottled. First vintage of Chardonnay from a high-density parcel in Rotenberg, Wachenheim, 15 hl/ha yield, 17,500 vines/ha. Vines 5 years old. 35% new oak.
