The secret of the Rothenberg is its ‘Rotliegendes’ terra-cotta-like terroir, which produces a unique combination of sweet pink grapefruit and cinnamon dusting. The 2012 Grosses Gewächs has turned out quite a generous representative of these flavours with acidity not on the main agenda, but in its place a dab of stony minerality adds an almost tactile edge.
