I do not think that other growers should try and copy Egon’s wines, but the clean, pure and fresh fragrance of this Kabinett of the most recent vintage makes me think that spontaneous fermentation aromas are not always what they are cracked up to be. With not a trace of sulphur in scent, the harmonious combination of fresh green fruit, racy acidity and expertly judged moderation of residual sugar would almost tempt me into recklessly buying a bottle.
